Testosterone replacement therapy can provide men with higher energy levels, improved muscle mass, and increased stamina and strength, all of which can help them last longer during sex. Studies have shown that practically all men who use testosterone treatment experience an improvement in libido and sexual desire, and more than half also report better erectile function. In addition, increasing serotonin levels may help delay ejaculation in men. Low testosterone levels are often associated with low motivation or depression, which can lead to sexual dysfunction.
The Endocrine Society recommends offering testosterone boosters to people with symptoms of testosterone deficiency. However, a study involving a group of men younger than 65 who had a history of heart problems and a group of heart-healthy older men showed that both groups had a higher risk of heart attacks when taking testosterone boosters (1).
